We have a block of rooms reserved near the venue, at La Jolla Cove Hotel and Suites. This is where everyone will take the bus to the venue, so it's the easiest option. Make sure to make your reservations prior to December 2, 2018 to get our special rates.
To make your reservations, call the hotel directly at (888) 525-6552 and say you're with the Heard Wedding Block.
The rooms start at $111/night and some of them can be shared to bring the costs down even further. You can get this rate for up to three days before and after the 5th of January, so feel free to stay for a while!
If you're looking for something a little more fancy and comfortable (read: quiet), La Valencia (https://www.lavalencia.com/) next door is a great choice! We don't have a room block there, but there should be plenty of room, and it's super close by, so you won't miss out on anything!

La Jolla is on the coast, about 30 minutes north of downtown San Diego.
Flights - you know what to do...buy soon to get the best deal! There are some deals from the east coast for around $350 right now. The closest airport is San Diego International (SAN,) and I always suggest buying flights on a Monday/Tuesday. For some reason it's always cheaper those days!
You can definitely skip renting a car if you're just coming for the weekend. Transportation will be provided from the hotel to the venue and back. There are plenty of Lyfts nearby and La Jolla is very walkable. Tons to eat and see!
We would love to spend time with you all, so if you have the time, come spend New Year's Eve with us on the west coast and stay for the wedding!
We're going to be hosting a New Years Eve party at our house in Encinitas. If you're here on the 31st, please join us!

What to do while you're here...
La Jolla is a small coastal community located 15 miles north of downtown San Diego. The San Diego/La Jolla area offers a ton of things to do. And since there are about 263 sunny days per year here, chances are good that the weather will cooperate!
Street Parking in La Jolla
Parking is typically free. However, watch signs for two-hour parking limits, or paid meters. Parking enforcement actively patrols the streets even in the winter months and tickets are not cheap!
Getting Around Town
La Jolla is a walkable village with lots to offer. Don’t miss the Murals of La Jolla, a public arts program that has installed 28 murals around town by commissioned artists.
Bird (adult scooter rentals) - Download the Bird app on your phone, find a scooter on the sidewalk, and take it for a spin around La Jolla Village!
Lyft - if you’re looking to go a bit further, Lyfts are plentiful in La Jolla, and not too expensive. Uber works too, but we prefer Lyft!
Torrey Pines State Reserve The trails at Torrey Pines are nothing short of spectacular. This popular beachside spot has six varying trails (one loop trail, some out-and-back) that range from mild to difficult. For the most intense workout, you’ll want to hit the Guy Fleming Trail or The Beach Trail, which takes you right down to the water at the end of the hike. You can often see Paragliders (or be one yourself) and keep an eye out for dolphins and whales.
La Jolla Cove Beach is arguably the most famous beach in La Jolla for its gorgeous atmosphere and crystal clear water. The cove keeps the water warm enough to swim all year round, which makes it perfect for a number of activities including swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, and even visiting sea caves.
La Jolla Shores is one of the most popular beaches in San Diego because of its gorgeous views. You can rent kayaks nearby and go scuba diving in the kelp beds! Whatever the activity, you'll find people having a great time at La Jolla Shores beach!
Children's Pool is the perfect spot to see the wildlife that has recently taken over the La Jolla beach. This pool was originally created to serve as a barrier to the waves for children to play, but now it is home to seals and sea lions! Please be respectful and don’t approach the wildlife, even if others are!
Blacks Beach is bathing suit optional. It is known for being the largest nude beach in America! Blacks is also known as one of the best surf spots so whatever your reason for the visit, this beach is worth the hike down!
The Zoo, Safari Park and the Birch Aquarium
No visit would be complete without a visit to the San Diego Zoo - The Zoo is in San Diego just north of downtown and it‘s open 365 days a year. Hours Christmas week are 9:00-8:00 with the exception of Christmas Eve when closing time is 5:00. From December 26 through January 6, the hours are 9:00-8:00.
The safari park is in Escondido (about 30 mins Northeast of La Jolla) and is definitely worth a day trip, you can book tours that take you “on safari” through the park.
The Birch Aquarium is very close to the wedding venue, and is a small but fun place to check out and see some local and exotic fish.
Where to Eat - La Jolla
Whisknladle - $$ - hip spot for brunch, lunch or dinner
Bobboi Natural Gelato - cult following for gelato, don’t miss it!
The Taco Stand - $ - Really great Mexican street food spot, open late. The California Burritos are a real highlight!
Ocean Terrace at George’s at the Cove - $$ - go for the view from their rooftop terrace, but the food is good too.
Taste of the Himalayas - $ - this is one of our favorite Indian restaurants in all of San Diego.
Herringbone - $$ - Mainly seafood, but the atmosphere and decorations inside are amazing. Feels like you’re dining in the middle of a forest!
Caroline’s - $ - if you want a sneak peek of the wedding venue and a beach view, head to Caroline’s for brunch or a coffee, but expect a long wait for coffee or food.
Karl Strauss - $$ - Primarily a brewery, but they have pretty good food, too. Our favorite beer of theirs is the Mosaic IPA.
